I woke up calm and composed, the night's dreams a blank slate. I couldn't remember anything, and that was usually a good thing. Actually, when I first awoke, I forgot that Aiden was even in the house. His groans of misery from the living room startled me at first, causing me to initially believe that I was being robbed. I tensed up, but then relaxed after remembering the events of the previous night.

My door had been left slightly open, just in case he called for me in the middle of the night. He hadn't, so this was the first time I had heard from him since he passed out.

"Simone?" he called.

I got out of bed and put on my robe, bracing myself for his questions. God, what a nightmare that had been. My patience with him was nothing short of miraculous, especially after all that went down at the show.

After reaching the doorway and opening my door, I paused. "Hi, Aiden," I said softly.

He was hunched over on the couch, his hair a disheveled mess, his jacket lying on the floor, removed at some point during his turbulent sleep. From my position near the window, he was miserably squinting to look at me. I walked over to the chair in the living room and sat down. He had finished the glass of water.

"I know I've probably already inconvenienced you enough, but can you make coffee?" he asked weakly. "And do you have any aspirin?" He rubbed his temples as if it would help me better understand the situation.

I laughed and nodded. "Yeah to both. Just stay there for now since you probably feel like shit."

The look he gave me was beyond gracious. I really didn't have any other way to describe it. Helping him made me feel good, at least momentarily.

"I hope I wasn't a huge problem last night," he called from the living room as I filled my tea kettle and put it on the stove. His tone wasn't that serious, and it made me wonder how much of the truth I should tell him.

After digging around in the cabinet, I found the aspirin and tossed it next to him on the couch, shouting "Here!" after I had thrown it. He looked puzzled as the pills shook suddenly—and loudly—next to where he was sitting.

"Oh, thanks," he shouted back.

After I prepped the French press and allowed it to steep, I pressed it and then poured us two cups of coffee. I filled mine with cream and left his black.

"Okay, Aiden," I said, holding his coffee in my hand. "What do you want me to tell you?"

"How much longer do I have to wait to start drinking that coffee you're holding hostage." He smiled, and I couldn't resist his charm.

"Fine." I handed it to him and sat down in the chair, leaving him on the couch. "Seriously, Aiden, what do you want me to tell you about last night?"

He took a tiny sip of the coffee, testing to see just how hot it was before speaking.
